Organizing your bills is one of the most important steps you can take to back control over your finances. The sad truth is that a lot of people are very disorganized when it comes to their finances because they may not even know what is due because their bills are all over the place. Here some tips about how to take control and organize your important bills.

1. Use Automatic Bill Pay

Automatic bill pay is one of the easiest ways to pay off your important bills without even thinking about it. Most banks will allow you to attach certain bills to your account and have them automatically paid off every month on the due date. The money will be automatically transferred from your account on the designated day and they will be paid on time and in full.

2. Use Online Banking

Online banking is generally much easier to manage because there is less paperwork and it is more transparent. You monitor your account and make changes in real time, which is much easier than mailing forms or going to the bank.

3. Use Computer Programs

There are a lot of computer programs you can use to manage your finances and create a budget. You can use something like Quicken or GNU Cash to track your spending, bills, and manager your finances right from your computer.

4. Get Rid Of Old Bills Every Year

Every year you should take time to remove all of your old bills and paperwork that you no longer need. This is important because that is how bills and old papers pile up and make the place seem disorganized.

5. Scan Bills Into Your Computer

If you happen to have a lot of paper work, then you can buy a scanner to scan your bills into your computer as opposed to having them lay around the house. This does not work for everybody, but it is a great idea if you are computer savvy.

6. Put All Bills In The Same Place

One of the easiest ways to keep your bills organized is to always put them in the same place whether that is in a folder, file cabinet, or box under your bed. As long as you put them in the same place every time then you will always know where to find it and there will never be a chance of anything getting lost.

7. Pay All Bills Twice Every Month

As a general rule for staying on top of your bills, it is best to review all of your bills and pay them twice a month. This works better than doing it once a month because all bills are not due at the same time each month, so you can make sure that they will be paid on time either way.

8. Organize Bills As They Arrive

A lot of people have bills piled up all over the house because they just sit them anywhere as they come in the mail. What you should do is put them in your designated bill area as soon as they arrive to make sure that they are organized. Moreover, organize bills in terms of category like credit card bills, utility bills, and etc.

Organizing your bills may take some time, but it is definitely worth it. Once you take control over your bills, you can rest assured that you will be gaining more control over your finances and moving toward financial stability and wealth.
